Annual Evening Competition.

This Club was formed in 1884 so is now 130 years old.

Saturday the 5th of July was this years date. It is always the first Saturday in July.

The venue for most members is the River Whiteadder although some occasionally fish the Tweed.

Fishing starts at 6 pm and the weigh in is at 11 pm sharp!

However this is when the main business of the evening begins……………………..

Hot Pies and Beer followed by Chocolate Cake and Tea!

We are lucky enough that one of our members Dr. Jimmy Mitchell allows us to use his double garage for this.

Jimmy is a very sprightly 90 year old and has been a member of the club for 64 years!!

He had ordered 20 pies and as only 8 of us turned up some of has had to eat three…..

I could tell you who but as this is the only real cholesterol some of our elderly members are allowed all year it would be worth more than my life to let the cat out of the bag 🙂

Indeed one old boy starts looking forward to next year first thing the following morning!

Oh the result……?

Well the club had seven fish this year which is better than last years two.

I managed four which probably means I won it but with Pies on the go nobody pays too much attention to this.

Hope the grease marks come out of my shirt………………….. 🙂
